Our commitment to children
Bumbletale was built by a parent, for children. Every decision we make puts child safety first. We believe children deserve a safe, encouraging space to express their creativity — free from harm, bullying, or inappropriate content.
How we protect children
🤖 AI safety screening
Every story is automatically checked by our AI (Bumble) before it can be published. Stories containing violence, sexual content, hate speech, or any inappropriate themes are blocked immediately and flagged for review.
👨👩👧 Parental consent for under-13
Children under 13 cannot activate their account without a parent or guardian approving via email. This is required by both Indonesian law (UU PDP) and international standards for child online safety.
💬 Comment moderation
All comments are checked for inappropriate language. Writers can also turn off comments on their stories entirely. Reported comments are reviewed within 24 hours.
🔒 No personal information displayed
Only usernames are shown publicly — never full names, email addresses, age details beyond a general range, school names, locations, or any other identifying information.
🚨 Easy reporting
Every story and comment has a visible report button. Reports are reviewed by our team within 24 hours. We take every report seriously.
📵 No advertising to children
We never show targeted advertising to children. Any sponsorship banners on the platform are static, vetted, and child-appropriate — never personalised based on a child's behaviour or data.
What parents can do
- ✅ Approve your child's account before it goes live (under-13)
- ✅ Request to see all data we hold about your child at any time
- ✅ Ask us to delete your child's account and all their data
- ✅ Report any content that concerns you via email
- ✅ Ask us to lock your child's account temporarily
- ✅ Withdraw consent and close the account at any time

What children should know
- 🐝 Never share your real name, address, phone number, or school name in your stories or comments
- 🐝 Never agree to meet someone you only know from Bumbletale in real life
- 🐝 If something makes you uncomfortable, use the report button or tell a trusted adult
- 🐝 Be kind in comments — encourage other writers, don't criticise or bully
- 🐝 Your stories are yours — nobody can publish them without your permission
Report a safety concern
If you see something on Bumbletale that worries you — whether you're a child, parent, or teacher — please report it immediately:
We aim to respond to safety reports within 24 hours. For urgent concerns involving immediate danger to a child, please also contact Indonesian authorities (KPAI — Komisi Perlindungan Anak Indonesia).
🇮🇩 Indonesian child protection
Bumbletale complies with Indonesian child protection laws including UU No. 35/2014 (Child Protection Law) and UU PDP No. 27/2022 (Personal Data Protection). We support the work of KPAI (Indonesian Child Protection Commission) and report any content involving child abuse to relevant authorities immediately.
