Terms of Service

1. Who can use Bumbletale

  • Bumbletale is designed for children aged 6 to 18 years old
  • Children under 13 require a parent or guardian to approve their account
  • Parents and teachers may create accounts to supervise children's accounts
  • By registering, you confirm you are within the eligible age range or are a parent/guardian acting on behalf of a child

2. Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your password safe
  • You must provide accurate information when registering
  • One person may only have one account
  • Do not share your account with others
  • We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms

3. Your stories and content

✅ Your story belongs to you
You keep full ownership of every story you write on Bumbletale. We do not claim any ownership over your creative work.

By publishing a story on Bumbletale, you give us a licence to:

  • Display your story on the Bumbletale website
  • Feature your story in our "best of" selections
  • Consider your story for our e-book or printed anthology program (we will always ask your permission first)

You can delete your stories at any time. Deleting your account removes all your stories permanently.

4. Rules for content

🚫 Not allowed on Bumbletale
Violence or gore · Sexual content of any kind · Hate speech, racism, or bullying · Personal attacks or harassment · Sharing personal information (phone numbers, addresses, school names) · Spam or repeated identical content · Content designed to frighten or upset other children · Impersonating another person

We use AI safety checks on all stories before publishing. Our team reviews flagged content and may remove it without notice. Repeated violations will result in account suspension.

5. The AI writing buddy (Bumble)

  • Bumble uses the Claude AI (by Anthropic) to polish stories
  • Free accounts get 3 AI polishes per day
  • Story text is sent to Anthropic's servers for processing — no personal information is included
  • Bumble's suggestions are not perfect — you are always free to ignore them
  • We are not responsible for any errors in Bumble's suggestions

6. E-book and publication program

  • Each quarter, our editorial team selects outstanding stories for possible publication
  • We will always contact you and your parent/guardian before including any story in a publication
  • You may decline at any time — no pressure, no obligation
  • If your story is published, a portion of profits will be donated to child welfare organisations in Indonesia (panti asuhan)
  • Authors whose stories are published will receive a free copy of the publication
  • Full publication terms will be provided separately when a story is selected

7. Privacy and data

Please read our full Privacy Policy to understand how we handle your data. In summary:

  • We never sell your data
  • We never show targeted ads to children
  • Parents can delete a child's account at any time

8. Limitation of liability

Bumbletale is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it safe and running, but we cannot guarantee:

  • The service will always be available without interruption
  • All content posted by other users will be appropriate (we moderate but cannot catch everything instantly)

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. We will notify you by email and ask for renewed consent if changes are significant. Continued use of Bumbletale after changes means you accept the new terms.
